Lunch with Tae at Slow Club, Potrero Hill, SF.
grilled flatbread
sheep's milk mozzarella, smoked bacon,
roasted summer squash & caramelized onions $10.00
roasted summer squash & caramelized onions $10.00
Slow Club has been on my list forever, but I never get out to Potrero! Luckily, I was heading out there to interview Tae Kim, President/Founder of Alite Designs, so we grabbed lunch before. The flatbread was very good.
burger
prather ranch dry aged ground beef, tomatoes,
greens, balsamic onions, dijon mustard, aioli
& cheddar, swiss or jack cheese,
served with french fries $11.50
We shared the burger, too, which was also excellent--well cooked, with soft bread.
We also grabbed one of their huge chocolate chip cookies! Mmmm!
Post-interview Tae at the Alite studio. Their space is so fun and the interview was fabulous! They encourage people to check out the space and hang out, too, so grab a bite at Slow Club (next door) and then head over to Alite!
Check out my Alite article on SF Station!
A HUGE thank you for everything, Tae! :)

The in-betweens.
The meals I'm not posting usually consist of cereal or yogurt for breakfast and a salad for lunch (currently I'm recreating this one). I always have salad around, ready to go.. Actually, I always have rice dishes around, too (so Asian!), so I switch between the two!
Veggie quesadillas.

Woodhouse Fish Co., Lower Pacific Heights, SF.
Lobster Roll. SO yummy. I shard this and the Dungeness Crab Roll with Richard. Both were amazing. Lobster is just yummy, but I almost preferred the crab roll, which was surprising! They aren't the biggest rolls (you can definitely finish) but from the soft, toasted bread to the fresh, delicious seafood fillings, they are worth the price. Also, the fries are super crisp!
Sarah and Richard were so kind as to treat me to lunch. Thanks, guys! Having them over was so fun, and we definitely got in some good eats! :)

Emerald City punch bowl at Rickhouse, Financial District, SF.
Rickhouse is always solid. I'd expect nothing less from the Bourbon & Branch crew. It's a nice place to hit later in the evening because it's less crowded--it's definitely a popular happy hour spot! They're known for their tasty punch bowls, which have a huge block of ice, but still have a lot of drink in them. We opted for the Emerald City because Richard and Sarah were visiting from Seattle! It was quite delicious. :)
Thanks for the bowl, Tony!

Momo's before Opera at the Ballpark, South Beach, SF.
Onion rings. Very nicely battered and fried.
Momo's is Richard's favorite so we went to have some drinks and food before heading to Opera at the Ballpark! I had press entry so it was nice not having to wait in the massive lines! Thank you SO much, SF Opera!
AT&T Field, home of the SF Giants. I love seeing crowds like this and it's always so fun to be out on the field, hanging out, eating and drinking with friends. :)
The SF Opera's Aida, telecasted from the Veterans War Memorial on Van Ness. The opera was fantastic, but we only stayed through the first half because it was freezing!

Homemade flatbread pizza with burrata.
I cannot get over the pizza I had at Delarosa! The burrata cheese on that pizza changed my life! I've wanted to make it since, so I decide to pick up some burrata at the store the other day and try a quick flatbread pizza.
Trader Joe's flatbread rounds make such great pizza crust! They get nice and crispy, but with some chew, too. :) On top I put some homemade marinara sauce with ground beef. I topped that with the beautiful burrata and chopped basil. This was pretty great. I'm super excited to start making more burrata pizzas!
Southwestern salad with homemade clinatro-lime dressing.
Chopped up romaine, cilantro, red onions, tomatoes, black beans, corn, almond bits, a little goat cheese, ground pepper, cilantro lime dressing.
And that's the last of the cilantro lime dressing! I really liked it thought and used it a lot. I'll definitely make some more. :)
Divisadero Farmer's Market, Western Addition, SF.
Cute, small, simple--a very unpretentious, non-touristy farmers market.
SF Grill, baby. As far as I know, these guys are only at the Divis Farmer's Market. Their made-to-order burgers are fabulous. You can buy the meat frozen, too. I stopped by after a run so I didn't get any, but will definitely next time.
I don't know that I've never had a ground chicken burger, but it keeps it a lot juicier than a big chicken breast. ;) Super flavorful, too and they're $7!
McClelland's Organic Artisan Butter. Amazing.

Thanks Trinh and Dahn for the awesome recommendation!

Grace's birthday cake from Paris Baguette, Santa Clara, SF.
I haven't had Paris Baguette since Korea! I'm still so sad that I didn't start food blogging while I was living there, but Paris Baguette is a huge Korean chain that is now in select US cities.
I don't super love Paris Baguette cakes. I just don't find them very flavorful, which is great for Koreans though because most Koreans don't like things to be too sweet. If I'm having a slice of cake though, it better be delicious. ;)
This was very pretty and most importantly, the beautiful birthday girl, Grace, loved it! :) Happy birthday, Grace!
Ahnah's blue rice.
Muir Woods and Brother's Korean BBQ, Inner Richmond, SF.
It was my first trip to Muir Woods! I can't believe how long it took me to get there, but there are some great hikes and it was actually very beautiful with the mist (not the greatest weather!). The hikes are nice, too, but we were all starving! Haha.. classic.
After talking about Korean food we decided to actually get some. We went to Brother's, which I'd been to once before and liked. They give a good array of banchan.
This was the worst tofu kimchi I've ever had. EVER! You normally can't go wrong with tofu kimchi, but this wasn't even the right dish! :( Here is the Google Images link to tofu kimchi.. Yea.. you can see why I would be confused.

A big thanks to Tony for a fun day. :)

Hello Kitty birthday cake and Karaoke Party at 111 Minna, SOMA, SF.
111 Minna was perfect for Tamiko's private karaoke party. I love singing with that girl! You'd better believe we busted out some Shania and Dixie Chicks! ;)
Would you just look at that cake!? Hah! I love it. So cute. And this was massive, too (you can't really tell from the photo)! I don't know where the cake was from, but it had chocolate filling with a raspberry jam layer. The cake was very light, which isn't my preference for chocolate cake, but it was nice.
On a side note, the September art exhibit at 111 Minna, Everyday, is beautiful. Here is a piece by artist Mike Davis.

Super simple wasabi cilantro lime soba noodles.
I used the cilantro lime sauce I made the other day as the base for this, but mixed in sesame oil, soy sauce and wasabi.

Curry Up Now Indian buritto with my cilantro lime sauce.
I couldn't get through this veggie burrito at Off The Grid last night so I had it today for lunch with my homemade cilantro lime sauce. It was excellent! :) I must say though, I had the chicken curry burrito last week and preferred that one.

More yummy treats from Off The Grid, Fort Mason Center, SF.
Duck taco from Kung Fu Tacos. The duck was cooked nicely and quite tasty, but there wasn't even filling for the double tortillas.
Creme brulee cart. This was the Mexican chocolate. When you broke the brulee, it was just like a chocolate mousse! Don't get me wrong, I actually prefer that, because I'm not the biggest on creamy custard, but that's creme brulee. Whatever it was, it was delicious. :)
Gobba Gobba Hey whoopie pies! To be honest, they aren't my favorite whoopie pies, but the guys there are rad and they do some interesting flavor combinations.
