Birthday cake from The Acadian Bakery, Lake Travis, TX.

Fresh Strawberry: Heavenly light Vanilla Cake with layers of sliced Strawberries and cream filling, French Butter Cream icing, surrounded with White Chocolate Shavings, and topped with two Dark Chocolate Dipped Strawberries.

P's sister brought this wonderful cake from The Acadian Bakery in Houston. It was very, very good. :)

Asparagus linguini with seared cod and scallop, Lake Travis, TX.

Asparagus shavings!

Defrosting the cod from Costco.

The pasta was very well cooked and I liked the asparagus shavings a ton. What a great idea. The whole dish was a bit bland for my tastes, but it's hard to cook for 15 people and it was a nice meal.

Cookie decorating, Lake Travis, TX.

The resort pool house had activities everyday for the kids. I of course, decided to play kid and join in! :) Here is the simple, but lovely cookie I made for myself.

Awwww, and here is the pretty cookie I made for P. :) He scarfed it down and said it was delicious.

Chicken salad poolside picnic, Lake Travis, TX.

Chicken salad P's brother made.

Leftover Goode Co. jalapeno cheddar bread.

Yummy sandwiches after swimming and fun in the sun.

Goode Co. BBQ, Lake Travis, TX.

I didn't get a photo, but the first night at Lake Travis, we had Goode Co. BBQ from Houston. P's brother brought it up for us. He event took a brisket to them and they smoked it for him! We had brisket, ribs, jambalaya, beans and corn. It was all very good and it was my first Texas BBQ!

H-E-B, Austin, TX.

H-E-B: Here Everything's Better. This is a big grocery store chain in Texas. I'm big on grocery stores! H-E-B was kinda like a Safeway, I suppose?

They had pre-cut avocado. So silly. :)

Chick-fIil-A, Austin, TX.

P and I flew into Austin for a little vaca. His family was getting together at Lake Travis for Memorial Day weekend to celebrate his mother's 60th birthday! It was my first time in Texas and I was in for a lot of good food and fun! :)

On our drive from Austin to Lake Travis we stopped to get some Chick-fil-A. I've never been to one, but P raves about it. Haha.. I have to say, it wasn't amazing. I love trying new things though so that was good! I think I tend to be disappointed with any talked-up fast food chains. Haha.

Chicken nuggets. These were fine, but nothing I'd crave.

It's not Zip's, but the fries are a nice cut.

Chicken burger. I didn't think it was anything great. Haha. I think McDonald's is probably better.

Birthday dinner at The Slanted Door, Embarcadero, SF.

Slanted Door spring rolls with shrimp, pork, mint and peanut sauce.

These were okay, I like making my own spring rolls so I can stuff them with more mint and cilantro, thus making them more flavorful.

Oysters and sausage.

This isn't on their online menu so it must be fairly new. It was DELICIOUS. I love love love oysters, and the sausage was wonderful, too.

grapefruit and jicama with red cabbage, pickled carrots and candied pecans.

This too was, DELICIOUS!! It was crisp and refreshing and tasted like a light Korean salad so there was definitely some nostalgia there, too. :)

Niman Ranch shaking beef cubed filet mignon, Sausalito Springs' watercress, red onions and lime dipping sauce.

Shaking beef!! Ahhh! Haha. This is on the 7x7 list that P and I are going through. It's the same as a Vietnamese dish P had back in Texas and has been trying to find up here. He said it's the best and closest to that dish that he's tried. I thought it was quite tasty, as well. :)

Beignets with cinnamon cream sauce.

This isn't on the online menu as well. They were crispy and doughy and light. Yummy, but not something I'd crave.

P and I had been trying to go to The Slanted Door for some time now. We decided to book early and go for my birthday and it was perfect. The whole meal was incredible and I want to go back and try more! :) Space wise, the restaurant was a bit too crammed for my liking, but the service was great and I'm so glad the food lived up to the praises--yay!

B-day lunch at Tommy Toy's, Financial District, SF.

Dumplings.

Chick and shrimp dishes with fried rice.

Some sort of a custard/flan with strawberry sauce. This was really delicious! And I don't normally like moussey/flan-like textures, but it was soo tasty!

My wonderful friend Jenny, treated me to a birthday lunch at Tommy Toy's. The decor in there is really lovely and the prix fixe is very nice as well. It was a lot of food and a great amount of variety--I love that you get two entrees. :)

So many posts to come!

I've been away--in Texas--so I've been snapping photos and not uploading! :( I'm getting back into the swing of things though and will be back-posting like maaaaad. Be excited. :)
