Traditional Korean New Year's soup (떡만두국), Spokane, WA.

This soup, traditionally prepared and eaten for Korean New Year, is made with Korean rice cake. We will also include Korean dumplings (만두)! This is Pat's favorite! :) Above, we are defrosting the Korean rice cake (떡).

You boil it in a big pot with chopped green onion, egg and some salt and pepper and the dumplings.

And you top with some dried seaweed flakes (김). I put mine in the bowl before pouring the soup so they are peering through on the sides. :)

Wish you were here, Pat!

  1. Now you're just being cruel. You can appease me by sending me a shipment of soup.
