Doris' birthday at Bella Trattoria, Inner Richmond, SF.

Antipasto della casa - grilled vegetables, cold cuts, olives and formaggi.

Polpette della mamma - House made pork meatballs, sauteed with eggplant and fresh tomatoes.

Tagliata al gorgonzola - grilled hanger steak with a shitake-gorgonzola cream bechamel. This was very, very good!

Linguine nere - Squid ink linguine with clams, calamari, and eggplant, sauteed with wine and olive oil.

Assaggini di bella - ravioli in cream, penne in pink and gnocchi with tomato sugo. This was my dish, because I can never choose just one! :) It's like the Tour of Italy at the Olive Garden--haha! The ravioli was my favorite. The cream sauce was excellent. The penne was fine and the gnocchi was good, but the tomato sugo just tasted like tomato paste. Not my favorite.

Birthday girl, Doris, and I with her cake! :)

Overall, the restaurant was great! Charming little place with great waitstaff. Everyone was very happy with their food and they didn't even charge a serving fee for the cake! :)
