Fusion curry.

Japanese curry mix + Bolani Cilantro Pesto. I added diced carrots, onions, red pepper, potatoes and spices, too.

Over rice. Mmmm. I really liked this. :)

Curry Up Now Indian buritto with my cilantro lime sauce.

I couldn't get through this veggie burrito at Off The Grid last night so I had it today for lunch with my homemade cilantro lime sauce. It was excellent! :) I must say though, I had the chicken curry burrito last week and preferred that one.

More yummy treats from Off The Grid, Fort Mason Center, SF.

Duck taco from Kung Fu Tacos. The duck was cooked nicely and quite tasty, but there wasn't even filling for the double tortillas.

My half of a crazy hot dot. The dog was actually really yummy and the dressings were, too.

Ahi tuna slider. This was just okay.

Creme brulee cart. This was the Mexican chocolate. When you broke the brulee, it was just like a chocolate mousse! Don't get me wrong, I actually prefer that, because I'm not the biggest on creamy custard, but that's creme brulee. Whatever it was, it was delicious. :)

Gobba Gobba Hey whoopie pies! To be honest, they aren't my favorite whoopie pies, but the guys there are rad and they do some interesting flavor combinations.

Brunch at Red Door Cafe, Lower Pacific Heights SF.

Haha--cute.

French toast with seasonal berries and banana.

You have to at least get the banana here--they fry it nicely, which makes it even more delicious! Their French toast is truly the best I've had. They do something to it to make it slightly crispy--I think maybe put brown sugar in the batter and it caramelizes? I don't know what exactly it is, but it's ammmmazing!

Roll my Cuban.

Mmmmm! I didn't get a great shot of the bamboo skewer tower, but it was awesome--great presentation, great food. Richard is a total food snob, too, and this was his dish. He loved it! :) I'm 2 for 2 now! ;)

Grizzlidilla.

Smoked salmon and lots of other yummy things in this huuuge quesadilla! Their house salsa is SO yummy and was perfect with this!

Dahn's dish--can't remember what it's called, but it's basically the Red Door's take on the standard American breakfast--2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 slices of toast. ;) Dahn's not really a breakfast guy either, but he loved this!

I don't remember what this was called either, but it was basically an open faced breakfast sandwich and it looked great!

The Red Door continues to shine. Love it. Love Ahmed (owner).

Pre-sotball brunch at Namu, Inner Richmond, SF.

Mimosas courtesy of Namu--thanks so much, guys! Their mimosas are fabulous--a nice amount of pulp, and not super cheap bubbly. ;)

Pickles also courtesy of Namu. Yummy.

Kimchi and pancetta fried rice.

Perfectly cooked sunny side up egg. Great combo of kimchi and pancetta. To be honest though, I thought it would be more flavorful from the look of it. It was a bit light, but still very nice--a really nice amount of fatty richness throughout the rice.

Korean breakfast burrito.

Beautiful. Again though, a bit of a tease! From the looks of it, I was expecting lots of big flavors, some spice, etc, but this was very light. Not bland necessarily, but definitely not the flavors you're expecting when you look at it. Also, the crispiness was a bit in-between--it wasn't a chimichanga (which would have been GREAT), but it wasn't a soft burrito.

Burger with kimchi relish. I really like how they asked if we were sharing and then cut it into 3 parts for us!

A good burger, not super great fries. The burger was nicely cooked and flavorful, but there needed to be more relish! I had maybe one good bite with relish and that bite was great, but then the rest were a bit sadder. Haha. Solid burger though.

This was a great brunch. I would definitely recommend it. I'd probably even recommend brunch over dinner at Namu. Nice and quiet, too, with no lines.

So I went to brunch with my friend Joe and our friend Alan. Joe doesn't think SF has that great of a food scene and I've taken it upon myself to show him otherwise. he really enjoyed Namu's brunch--even more than I did. That and I took him to Sai Jai Thai a few weeks ago and he liked that a ton, too! I'll have him raving about SF food in no time! ;) Haha. Thanks for the great brunch, Joe! :)

Kimchi grilled cheese with a fried egg on top.

I chopped up this kimchi. It's nice to use a pretty "old" or sour kimchi, not fresh kimchi.

Cheddar & mozarella mixed shredded cheese, topped with kimchi on wheat.

I toasted it like any other grilled cheese.

Then I topped it with a fried egg, sliced it diagonally and stacked the haves for this photo.

My dad used to eat kimchi with sandwiches, and with everything, really. Haha. He's so smart. I thought he was nuts when I was a kid, but little did I know! ;) The spicy, crunchy, slightly sour, pickled kimchi flavor goes SOOO well as a relish in this grilled cheese sandwich! Mmm mmm mmm!

This was great for a quick sandwich with ingredients I had on hand, but NEXT TIME I'm going to do this sandwich with artisan bread, bacon and a better cheese! :) Bacon will be a great combo because it is like the Korean sam-gyup-sal (삼겹살), which is often eaten with grilled kimchi.

Lettuce wrap tacos, four ways.

Left to right: Fish, grilled veggies, chorizo & poato, shredded beef.

These were all taco fillings I got to-go from Tacolicious, but since I don't like tortillas, I decided to eat them with romaine leaves! This was very Korean of me, where it's called ssam (쌈). So so great! I don't get the appeal of tortillas and I feel bad saying that, but this is healthier and adds a nice crispness, while not taking away from the flavorful filling!

Lee's Sandwiches, Little Saigon, SF.

This was a Vietnamese sandwich on a croissant! Tres fusion. ;) Pat got this for me because I was starving. Yums.

Weird Fish, Mission, SF.

Photo from fryhole, posted by Kira S. on Yelp.

I didn't have my camera with me because I went for a run before, but my friend Judith and I decided to try Weird Fish after some hardcore thrift shopping in the Mission!

We each got a fish taco with mango salsa and then we shared the mashed yams with coconut milk, and an order of fries! The yams were super interesting. They weren't my favorite, and were kind of the same consistency as pumpkin pie. I don't like my food that pureed. The fries looked awesome, but weren't crispy enough for me--a bit soggy. The taco was nice though!

The space itself is so so cute. I love it there. It's the perfect size for a little spot in the Mission, the prices are right and the service was great. :)

Third time's a semi-charm, Stone Korean, Embarcadero Center, SF.

Banchan. A little weak. I feel like they should be more consistent with their banchan portions. Sometimes you'll go and get 7 side dishes and sometimes 3. It's good for a Korean restaurant to change up the banchan, but still good to have a lot.

Stone wings. The wings changed? I liked these more than last time though, but again, it's confusing to not be consistent. Hopefully this is a change that sticks and doesn't change again!

Pork and Kimchee sandwich. Okay, so the first time I dined here, I tried the entrees and was disappointed. The next time I came back to try the happy hour menu and that was fine. This time I came to try one of the sandwiches! I keep coming back because I really want to like this place! I feel like it has potential.

So, okay, let me just say my dad has been making us Korean sandwiches since I was kid so I'm kind of a self-proclaimed expert. :) This sandwich didn't cut it for me. The bread was boring--bland, dry, didn't add anything and made me want to eat the pork and kimchee with rice. I feel like a nice, buttery, toasted artisan bread would be perfect. And some veggies--it was just pork and kimchee, and not even the best pork and kimchee so yeah.. not my favorite.

The bibimbap was nice. I like the veggies they use, but I think it's completely silly that you have to pay $1 extra for an egg on top, when it is standard with the dish. Also, they don't put enough rice in it--some people might like that, but I don't. Taste wise, it's fine, but it's meant to have a certain rice : everything else ratio.

I'm VERY happy to report that we had a friendly waitress though! I think she maybe worked sales or retail before because she tried to get us to order a million things, which I didn't really like, but she was at least nicer than the previous wait staff. And I don't mean she suggested things saying they were really good, she REALLY tried to get us to over order. It was strange. We didn't though and it worked out nicely. We shared the above three dishes among three people and we were all very satisfied after. But yes, yay for better service!

Bacon blue cheese guacamole.

3 ripe avocados. I just mashed these with forks.. I don't like to mix these and the other ingredients together because then the tomatoes get mushy.

One Roma tomato, a quarter of a small red onion, a handful of cilantro and one jalapeno pepper, lime juice, black pepper and salt.

Blue cheeeeeese!

Baaaacon!

This was inspired by the sage, blue cheese, bacon guacamole at Lopez Southwestern Kitchen. It was listed as chef Michel Symon's favorite dish on The Best Thing I Ever Ate. I basically made guacamole just the way I normally make it (with lots of cilantro and lime, and some heat) and then added a good amount of bacon and blue cheese. I liked it, but I'd like to try it with goat cheese, too. :)

I'm going to use this in a taco salad tonight and then also for a Mexican scramble tomorrow!

Korean kalbi and kalbi taco BBQ at my brother's place, LA.

So many amazing plants in LA! It seems like every yard has fruit trees! So great.

Big, bright, beautiful flowers were everywhere, too. :) I don't think I could stand having that nice of weather all the time, but the flowers sure do make you smile.

My brother's awesome backyard, where we had a Korean BBQ with the wedding party.

Table setting. :)

Daddy, manning the grill. :) My mom and dad are too funny--they made the kalbi in Spokane, with my aunt, froze it and flew it down for this BBQ. My parents rock. :)

Korean taco set up: salad mixed with sesame-ginger dressing, cilantro, sesame salsa, sesame seeds. My brother put this together and it was excellent! I guess for the sesame salsa you just mix salsa with sesame oil--easy!

A light yummy salad one of the bridesmaids brought.

상추 traditional lettuce wrap for the kalbi, with red pepper paste sauce.

Yummy!

My taco was amazing. Although, I don't like tortillas.. Hahah. So the next one I had was sans-tortilla, but with some rice, more like a naked burrito. It was scrumptious. I'm definitely going to make these at home. :)

Peanut sauce veggies and noodle boxed lunch.

Peanuty sauce with diced onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and cauliflower.

Tossed with al dente spaghetti noodles. Mmmmm mmmmm mmmm! I had already eaten, so I made this for my roommates and my lunch tomorrow.

Fancy quesadilla Lost party.

Prep. Done and done! :) Let's see.. we've got mushrooms, onion, cauliflower, tomato, yellow bell pepper and marinated artichokes.

Parm reg, pepper jack and smoked gouda.

Carmelized cauliflower, onion and tomato with garlic and parm-reg.

Artichoke, tomato, onion with smoked gouda.

Yellow bell pepper, onion and tomato with pepper jack.

I must have forgotten to snap a photo of the mushroom, tomato and onion filling. I used that with the parm-reg.

All of them were on whole wheat tortillas, which worked okay, but they didn't get as crispy and yummy as regular flour tortillas. :(

I whipped these up for my Tuesday night Lost party. I didn't get to take a photo because it was all pretty quick--made about 12 of them! :)
