Mid-week brunch at The Blue Fig, Mission, SF.

I can't seem to find the site for Teaze, but their tea infuser is amazing! I was blown away! You really have to see one in action to get the full effect--it's a bit difficult to explain, but if you can, try one! I want to buy one and managed to find one on eBay!

Jesse's sweet waffle. Mmmmm.

Savory waffle. MMMMM! I loved this! It's essentially a salad on top of a waffle. It kind of reminded of this amazing pizetta I had at Fly Bar awhile back. It was a pizza topped with salad, which I love! I actually preferred this to the sweet waffle, which says a lot. ;)

I had been wanting to try The Blue Fig for a long time and it finally worked out. It's a cute little cafe--nothing fancy, but good people and great prices. It's strange though because they don't have hours. They stay open until the last person leaves! It's an interesting idea for a place and I feel like they could be a nice late-night dining option, but I guess only if people stay that late!

Thanks for brunch, J!

Breakfast of Champions: Toast, Fruit, Tea.

Cinnamon toast from Whole Foods, Aveda Tea and fruit salad of honey dew, cantaloupe and pomegranate seeds. Perfect way to start the day. :)

My take on a lox bagel.

Capers, red onions, tomatoes, spices, lemon juice.

Alaskan sockeye salmon; half a jalapeno roll with melted goat cheese; caper red onion relish.

LOVE! I liked the goat cheese, but still prefer cream cheese. The relish was lovely and makes it a lot easier to eat--I hate when you bite into a sandwich and you pull out a whole tomato or onion slice! I loved the jalapeno roll, too--it added a nice little spice to the dish.

Brunch at Red Door Cafe, Lower Pacific Heights SF.

Haha--cute.

French toast with seasonal berries and banana.

You have to at least get the banana here--they fry it nicely, which makes it even more delicious! Their French toast is truly the best I've had. They do something to it to make it slightly crispy--I think maybe put brown sugar in the batter and it caramelizes? I don't know what exactly it is, but it's ammmmazing!

Roll my Cuban.

Mmmmm! I didn't get a great shot of the bamboo skewer tower, but it was awesome--great presentation, great food. Richard is a total food snob, too, and this was his dish. He loved it! :) I'm 2 for 2 now! ;)

Grizzlidilla.

Smoked salmon and lots of other yummy things in this huuuge quesadilla! Their house salsa is SO yummy and was perfect with this!

Dahn's dish--can't remember what it's called, but it's basically the Red Door's take on the standard American breakfast--2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 slices of toast. ;) Dahn's not really a breakfast guy either, but he loved this!

I don't remember what this was called either, but it was basically an open faced breakfast sandwich and it looked great!

The Red Door continues to shine. Love it. Love Ahmed (owner).

Pre-sotball brunch at Namu, Inner Richmond, SF.

Mimosas courtesy of Namu--thanks so much, guys! Their mimosas are fabulous--a nice amount of pulp, and not super cheap bubbly. ;)

Pickles also courtesy of Namu. Yummy.

Kimchi and pancetta fried rice.

Perfectly cooked sunny side up egg. Great combo of kimchi and pancetta. To be honest though, I thought it would be more flavorful from the look of it. It was a bit light, but still very nice--a really nice amount of fatty richness throughout the rice.

Korean breakfast burrito.

Beautiful. Again though, a bit of a tease! From the looks of it, I was expecting lots of big flavors, some spice, etc, but this was very light. Not bland necessarily, but definitely not the flavors you're expecting when you look at it. Also, the crispiness was a bit in-between--it wasn't a chimichanga (which would have been GREAT), but it wasn't a soft burrito.

Burger with kimchi relish. I really like how they asked if we were sharing and then cut it into 3 parts for us!

A good burger, not super great fries. The burger was nicely cooked and flavorful, but there needed to be more relish! I had maybe one good bite with relish and that bite was great, but then the rest were a bit sadder. Haha. Solid burger though.

This was a great brunch. I would definitely recommend it. I'd probably even recommend brunch over dinner at Namu. Nice and quiet, too, with no lines.

So I went to brunch with my friend Joe and our friend Alan. Joe doesn't think SF has that great of a food scene and I've taken it upon myself to show him otherwise. he really enjoyed Namu's brunch--even more than I did. That and I took him to Sai Jai Thai a few weeks ago and he liked that a ton, too! I'll have him raving about SF food in no time! ;) Haha. Thanks for the great brunch, Joe! :)

Kimchi grilled cheese with a fried egg on top.

I chopped up this kimchi. It's nice to use a pretty "old" or sour kimchi, not fresh kimchi.

Cheddar & mozarella mixed shredded cheese, topped with kimchi on wheat.

I toasted it like any other grilled cheese.

Then I topped it with a fried egg, sliced it diagonally and stacked the haves for this photo.

My dad used to eat kimchi with sandwiches, and with everything, really. Haha. He's so smart. I thought he was nuts when I was a kid, but little did I know! ;) The spicy, crunchy, slightly sour, pickled kimchi flavor goes SOOO well as a relish in this grilled cheese sandwich! Mmm mmm mmm!

This was great for a quick sandwich with ingredients I had on hand, but NEXT TIME I'm going to do this sandwich with artisan bread, bacon and a better cheese! :) Bacon will be a great combo because it is like the Korean sam-gyup-sal (삼겹살), which is often eaten with grilled kimchi.

Hosting the SFS Team Outing: Three Papaya's Brunch & Screen-printing at Levi's Workshop, Mission, SF.

I hosted my first SF Station team event! It was very exciting and I want to give a special thanks to everyone who came out and made it a success!

Papaya Salad at Three Papayas. Ta-wei, Vivienne and Matty at the Three Papaya's treated us to two of these! So sweet!

One of the specials, a lotus root salad with chicken. Mmmmm.

Another one of the specials! The pig's head with Spanish rice and a fried egg. This is apparently a Filipino dish and was very interesting!

-------------
After brunch we all headed over to the Levi's Workshop for some excellent screen-printing! I surprised the crew with a special illustration made by our current SF Station Local Artist, Charmaine Olivia! Thank you, Charmaine, for the amazing illustration! And a special thanks to Levi's Workshop and Turner PR for making this all happen!!!

My bossman, Chris, workin' the screen!

Our amazing screen-printing pro, Henrik! Thank you for everything! He is holding up the first part/color of our print.

Here is a photo of my finished t-shirt! You can see the other layer here (in gray). I LOVE what Charmaine designed for us and love how it looks screen-printed! I'm so happy with how today went and can't wait to plan more events!

Jessica's Bachelorette Part 3: Cooking Sunday brunch.

Fresh blueberries added into some coffee cake batter. Wild are more flavorful, but these plump blueberries were on sale and are used later in the yogurt parfait!

Topped with streusel and into the oven! I prepared everything else while this was baking. :)

I mixed a little brown sugar into the plain yogurt. This looks like a lot, but it was for a tub and a half of yogurt.

Brown sugar yogurt parfait with granola, mixed berries and powdered sugar. Mmmmmm!

I made two scrambles. This one was bacon with cheddar. The other one was bacon with sun-dried tomato pesto and goat cheese. I really liked both.

Peanut butter banana sandwiches.

Blueberry coffee cake!

Everyone seemed to really the food, which always makes me happy! I hadn't made brunch in ages, too, so it felt good to do that again. It's one of my favorite meals to cook and eat! ;)

Kat's first brunch at Brenda's, Tenderloin, SF.

Breeeeenda's!

Kat's first time at Brenda's! Ahh! We've been trying to go for SOO LONG and something just kept coming up! This was perfect though--after running of a few calories at the Palace of Fine Arts, we thought it'd be a good idea to pack on 100000 more calories with a fantastic brunch! ;)

I've never seen Brenda's SO empty! I think it might be to do with the scaffolding outside. Thomas Lackey, of Stable Cafe, who designed this space for Brenda, recently told me about the new Brenda's expansion! It's nice to see it's in full swing--the new space will be the new restaurant. The current restaurant will be used for the kitchen and catering. Yay! I can't wait to see the new space--it's going to be fabulous and was very needed!

Shrimp po' boy. Mmmmmmmm. Kat LOVED this! :)

Hangtown hash special with their biscuit and grits. Fried oyster and bacon scramble? Yes, I am indeed asking for a heart attack! Such a delicious way to die.. haha. In my defense, I decided to break this all up into 3 breakfasts! :)

Classic grilled cheese sandwich.

Gettin' toasty.

Mmmmmm. I haven't had a grilled cheese in forever! :)

sun-dried tomato pesto torta omelette.

This was heaven! I love a good, cheesy omelette. This was great with chopped up sun-dried tomatoes, pesto and a parmesan-cream cheese blend.

Brunch at Canteen, Tenderloin, SF.

Bacon, sweet corn and goat cheese omelette.

SO lovely. :) Silly me, I didn't even know Canteen did brunch!

A big win for brunch at The Wynn, The Strip, Las Vegas.

The Buffet at the Wynn! This was the other place I heard so many rave reviews about so I had to try it.

The place was whimsical and fun, like you were brunching in a majestic garden from Alice in Wonderland. Yay!

Only one half of the buffet! It was quite classy for a buffet. I was very impressed by the presentation and cleanliness.

Cute little cups of salads!

Super yummy phad Thai and stirfry.

The skirt steak with au jus was incredible.

These little sour cream and garlic fried potato balls were AMAZING.

Pizza! Nice crust.

Cheese and olive bar! Mmmmmmm.

One of the salad bars. They had nicely themed salad bars with either romaine, mixed greens (above) or iceberg, with various dressings and veggies that went well with each--smart.

The pastry kitchen. This is where the real love happens. :)

Cakes! Treats! Ah! Yummy! :)

Gelato and toppings.

Candied apples. Too cute.

Cream puffs. I'm not the biggest fan, but they looked fabulous.

Pretty. :)

Brunch at the Wynn really was the best. There was a great selection, great presentation, fresh ingredients, edgier food, and everything was pretty yummy! Definitely better than The Bellagio. I'm glad I tried the Bellagio, but next time I'll be brunching at The Wynn.
