Sunday brunch at Pomelo, Noe Valley, SF.

Daily specials! I'd been meaning to try Pomelo for soooo long now and finally got out to Noe! :)

They bring you little mini muffins. Not my favorite--I like either cake like muffins or crumbly muffins, but this was kind of an in-between. Very cute though.

Eastlake, Seattle! Awww, that made me miss seattle and my best friend, KM. The Altamira, Caracas, were the ones I ordered. :)

Areeeeepas! These are the first arepas I've seen in SF! I was so excited to see them on the menu and had to have them! They were breakfasty arepas and were very good, but I like arepas to be a bit more flavorful.

M got the special, the daily Noe omelette.

We heart Pomelo. I love the space, the neighborhood, the menu, everything! I'll definitely be back, and will be trying out other restaurants in Noe, too--yay.

Carrot cake muffins with pineapple coconut cream cheese frosting.

I was in a pinch so I grabbed a box carrot cake mix and used this recipe (sans rasins) to give it a homemade touch. :) It made two full batches!

Definitely more muffiny than I was going for. They were okay.. I would add more crushed pineapple and some carrot and zucchini next time.

Of course I didn't take a photo of the frosting! :( Again, I was in rush, so I bought a cream cheese frosting and then added pineapple juice and coconut flakes. The flavor was there, but it was a little bit runny so I added a bit more powdered sugar to thicken it up. In the above photo they were just frosted--still a bit warm, I'm afraid. They are in the fridge right now to get the frosting back it's proper thickness. :)

Oh, I just topped them with some pecan nibs.

Blueberry chocolate chip muffins with a cinnamon-sugar topping.

I used a blueberry muffin mix with wild blueberries that my roommates had and then added some chocolate chips. :)

So originally I was going to do a yummy streusel top (butter, cinnamon sugar, sugar, brown sugar, flour), but then got frustrated with the cold butter and microwaved it.. and... microwaved it for too long! :( So I decided to just see what it would be like as a topping anyway..

The sides burnt a bit, but the topping was actually nice and the actual muffins were good! :)

That was my last treat for two weeks! I'm going on super cleanse! Ahhh! It's sad that I won't be cooking, but I'm very excited to try this out for two weeks! :)

Saaaavory muffins (they're essentially biscuits). These were good, the basil in them really has a bite. The feta wasn't super flavorful though and next time I'll add a different cheese and maybe a little more salt.

Peanut btuter banana muffins with chocolate and butterscotch chips.

I had 6 super ripe bananas so I decided to make banana bread. Well, I was going through recipes and came across some peanut butter banana bread recipes! I LOVE peanut butter and bananas together so I thought--brilliant! Then I went a step further and added my favorite chips--chocolate and butterscotch!

Gooey.

Into the oven you go!

Mmmmm. I love they way they turned out and they were a HUGE hit with my friends. Next time I'm going to add a bit more peanut butter though. :)

Yaaaay! These were delish! They could use a little spicy jelly, but are good on their own, too.
