My first Indian style veggie curry.

Greek yogurt, vegetable stock, tomatoes, red peppers, onions, garlic, curry powder, spices.

This actually turned out really well. I liked the lighter flavor, although I didn't use a recipe and think it should be a little thicker. Not bad for a first curry though! ;)

Eggplant and sun dried tomato penne with italian herbs sauce

Eggplant, sundried tomatoes, Italian herbs, salt, pepper, garlic, olive oil and grated parmesan cheese with penne.

Mmm! This was delicious! I love eggplant, but have never cooked pasta with it--definitely a great fit.

Indian delivery from Little Dehli, Tenderloin, SF.

Eep! This is my first non-pizza delivery in the US (had delivery while I was living in Korea)! And my first delivery I've had by myself, but of course, I ordered like I was eating for 10! Hah. I feel like such a city girl now. Haha. ;)

I ordered through Eat24Hours.com, which worked great. The food came in about 15 minutes!

Here's what I ordered: Little Delhi Special Bread; Bengan Bharta; Okra Vegetable; Vegetable Malai Kofta.
I didn't care for the bread, but everything else was quite nice. I had tried everything except for the Vegetable Malai Kofta in other Indian restaurants. I'm so glad I tried the Kofta though--it was my favorite part of this meal and was really a delight.

This was a ridiculous amount of food for $30! I only had about 1/4 of it, froze some and will have some as leftovers this week. :)

The perfect lunch at Split Pea Seduction, SoMa, SF.

Split Pea has some great new artwork on the walls! A customer/artist who teaches classes at 1:AM Gallery did these ballpoint pen drawings--so fun.

Love it. This was perfect for people watching while enjoying my lunch. :)

Everything on their daily menu always sounds amazing. I opted for the vegetarian option (last one listed) with bacon! Their bacon is so good so I really had to. ;)

I was so hungry and this really hit the spot. It was heaven between bread.

The Split Pea is always amazing and I'm stunned with how they keep their soup the exact right, edible temperature. I went for the Sugar Pie Pumpkin Veg.

Ridiculous. I love soups with bread/croutons in them. So so yummy and hearty.

A special little dessert for me! Everyone should try one of their ice cream sandwiches. They're not only adorable, but absolutely delicious!

Now THIS is what lunch should be. :)

Chefs Christian and Sam--you guys rock my taste buds! Thank you both for everything! SO fabulous!

I just have to ad a quick note--Split Pea Seduction is the must-try lunch joint, but Christian also has an amazing catering company, Jersey Tomatoes, that you will not be disappointed with!

Apple goat cheese salad.

Romaine, apples, goat cheese, candied pecans, honey balsamic vinaigrette dressing, ground black pepper.

Really nice.

Spinach and Feta pastry from Philz Coffee, Civic Center, SF.

Toasted, of course. This is the first food I've had out of the case at Philz, other than the Mission Minis cupcakes. The spinach and feta were perfect in this pastry--a little greasy, but soo yummy. And quite filling for $3!

Ending Girls Night at Osha Thai, Tenderloin, SF.

Spring rolls with tofu.

Like!
Pad see ew with tofu.

Like!

Pumpkin curry with chicken.

Dislike and like! I dislike this because it wasn't pumpkin curry--it was red curry with a few bits of pumpkin... definitely not what I was expecting. It was a nice, mild red curry though.

The girls and I went for a little pub crawl along Polk and, after debating between thai and pizza, we ended up getting a late night bite at Osha--of course! It's apparently the spot I go for late night bites!

Baked burrito enchilada.

Black beans, tomatoes, onions, corn and rice with "Mexican" spices. It became vegetarian because, well, I don't have any meat. ;)

Tortilla spread with a little cream cheese, cheddar-jack and then the filling.

All rolled up with enchilada sauce and cheese.

Baked. Yums. Like, really yums. I have to say, this was pretty tasty.

I had half of one of these + a little salad + Colts vs. Jaguars game = a great Sunday. Go Colts!

Falafel sandwich at Westfield Shopping Center, Downtown, SF.

Falafel sandwich (only one half pictured) with two dolmas.

The dolmas were just fine, nothing special.

The actual falafel in the sandwich were a good size. They mash up 1.5 in each half of the sandwich and then add in this tzatziki sauce with parsley, cucumbers, tomatoes and I'm not sure what else! It was good, but the ratio was all off. That, and with a pita, you can't smash falafel into the very bottom of the pocket and then top it with the tzatziki mix because then you'll have all tzatziki veggies for a long time and then all falafel, which is exactly what happened. :( The flavors were there though and it's definitely a good option at the Westfield food court.

Veggie quesadillas.

Tortilla, cheddar jack cheese, diced tomatoes, red onion, black beans, corn, mushroom and cilantro.

I made about 6 of these, had one for dinner, set one aside for later this week, and froze the rest! :)

Southwestern salad with homemade clinatro-lime dressing.

Chopped up romaine, cilantro, red onions, tomatoes, black beans, corn, almond bits, a little goat cheese, ground pepper, cilantro lime dressing.

And that's the last of the cilantro lime dressing! I really liked it thought and used it a lot. I'll definitely make some more. :)

Bar Agricole, SoMa, SF.

After MUCH anticipation and months of staking it out as our new office lunch spot (SF Station is right around the corner), Bar Agricole finally opened! Very exciting!

The space is great. A lot larger than it seems from outside (I feel like this is very SF), and very rustic-modern. The menu on the other hand.. While the actual design of it is fabulous, it reads a bit strangely. From everything I've read and from how they are presenting their chef (Brandon Jew), it seems like Bar Agricole is a bar/restaurant. That said, the menu is odd. It wasn't presented as a tapas place, but the menu seems incomplete for a normal restaurant. The line breaks + prices don't present a clear meaning either.

That all said, the food is great! Haha. But, with the exception of a couple dishes on the menu, none of the plates were full meals on their own.

Cheese plate 15

Our server (who was very sweet) said there would be crisp apples with this! There were no apples. I wanted apples. :( Both the bread and cheeses were very nice though. There was a camembert and two goats' milk cheeses. The plate could definitely use more bread, or fruit though.

Chopped liver on toast 8

I don't normally like pate, but this was SOO good. Apparently it isn't a traditional pate because it's technically "chopped liver", but it sure looked like pate and was definitely a spread.. ;)

Roasted peppers with napatella 13

These were lovely, but I wouldn't say they were anything extraordinary.

Grilled eggplant & farro with basil 11

This was pretty yummy. I just really love eggplant though. Haha. I didn't really taste the basil, but it was a nice, unique way of serving eggplant.

Mussels with pork sausage and pea greens 16

This would be the only plate that I would consider to be a full meal on it's own. Still, I never understand when people order a big bowl of mussels as their whole meal! Haha. They were very yummy though.

Blueberry shortcake with lemon verbena cream 8

This was yummy. It wasn't a shortcake though. Shortcake with fruit and cream is my favorite dessert and this definitely wasn't a shortcake. It lacked the crumble that I hoped for. although the plump blueberries were nice, I think wild blueberries would have brought in more flavor. Their cream is amazing though!

Pluot upside-down cake 8

This was my favorite dish of the evening. The cake was moist and buttery and just perfect with their light, yet flavorful cream and wild blackberries! Mmmmm!

After writing this, I feel like it was a negative review, but it really wasn't. The drinks were great, the food was great--the menu was just a bit odd. I don't know that I'd go for a full meal, but I'd certainly go back for drinks and dessert!

South Perry Pizza, Spokane, WA.

I kept hearing about South Perry Pizza so I made the trek out to the adorable South Perry neighborhood to try it out! They have a great patio area and a cute modern space.

Bleu 5
Spring mix, candied walnuts, bleu cheese crumbles, red onions, red grapes, blue cheese vinaigrette

This salad was huge for $5! Gosh, I love eating in Spokane. You really get some bang for your buck. This salad was seriously delicious, too. Just like something I would make at home with the red grapes. :)

Artichoke 12
olive oil, feta, mozzarella, kalamata olives, roasted red peppers + pesto

We couldn't choose between the Artichoke and the Pesto pizzas so we got the Artichoke with some pesto! Seriously yummy. Very good crust, and AMAZING portions for the price! This was a pretty large pie and for only $12.

$20 with tax and tip and more than enough for two to share! Ridiculous! Amazing! Haha. I'm SO excited to eat here again next time I'm in Spokane!

Kimchi grilled cheese with a fried egg on top.

I chopped up this kimchi. It's nice to use a pretty "old" or sour kimchi, not fresh kimchi.

Cheddar & mozarella mixed shredded cheese, topped with kimchi on wheat.

I toasted it like any other grilled cheese.

Then I topped it with a fried egg, sliced it diagonally and stacked the haves for this photo.

My dad used to eat kimchi with sandwiches, and with everything, really. Haha. He's so smart. I thought he was nuts when I was a kid, but little did I know! ;) The spicy, crunchy, slightly sour, pickled kimchi flavor goes SOOO well as a relish in this grilled cheese sandwich! Mmm mmm mmm!

This was great for a quick sandwich with ingredients I had on hand, but NEXT TIME I'm going to do this sandwich with artisan bread, bacon and a better cheese! :) Bacon will be a great combo because it is like the Korean sam-gyup-sal (삼겹살), which is often eaten with grilled kimchi.

Bibim mandu (비빔 만두).

Bibim refers to something that is mixed and mandu is the Korean style dumpling. This is one of my favorite modern Korean dishes, that's a bit harder to find in the States. Essentially it's fried mandu that's eaten with a slaw and Korean chojang (초장) hot sauce. Chojang is also a fairly new sauce that is the traditional Korean red-pepper hot sauce go-chu jang (고추장), with vinegar (식초). The consistency is lighter and I think it just has a great flavor!

Sesame leaf (깬잎). Such an interesting flavor. It's wonderful picked, Korean style, and also a very important ingredient in many Korean dishes. To make the salad I chopped this up along with seaweed (김) and romaine lettuce.

I'm going to make mandu (Korean dumplings) soon, but didn't have time to today, so tried these.

Fried in a bit of oil.

I forgot the plate the romaine lettuce as part of the slaw! I did end up topping this with the chopped up romaine, which really helps add a nice crispness to this. The salad varies from place to place though.

Mmmm! SO GOOD! I had this with rice, of course. The actual mandu that I purchased wasn't that great--it said it was kimchi mandu, which is usually very flavorful, but this was pretty bland. Good thing I had it with the nice slaw and sauce!

Lettuce wrap tacos, four ways.

Left to right: Fish, grilled veggies, chorizo & poato, shredded beef.

These were all taco fillings I got to-go from Tacolicious, but since I don't like tortillas, I decided to eat them with romaine leaves! This was very Korean of me, where it's called ssam (쌈). So so great! I don't get the appeal of tortillas and I feel bad saying that, but this is healthier and adds a nice crispness, while not taking away from the flavorful filling!

Creamy tomato sauce pasta with asparagus and bell peppers.

More asparagus and bell peppers! This time over pasta with a nice garlicy tomato sauce that I made with tomatoes, onion, salt, pepper, parmesan cheese, garlic, and a little bit of milk. I purposefully had not that much sauce, but a whole lot of veggies!

Burrito from the Haight, SF.

I was starving while running the Bake Sale and Chris was coming later to help so I had him bring me a veggie burrito! After not eating all morning, but being surrounded by baked goods, this was pretty great. :)

A much needed simple salad.

Homemade honey mustard vinaigrette with romaine, fresh goat cheese and toasted pecan nibs. Yummy.
